2010 Merit Badge University

Date: Saturday, March 6, 2010

Location: Zachry Engineering Building (campus map), Texas A&M University campus (map to campus), College Station

What: Merit Badge University is an event for boy scouts to come to a central location and earn merit badges by counselors who are skilled in the field of the merit badge they are teaching, utilizing the resources of the university. At least 800 boy scouts will be able to register for various merit badge classes. There will also be a boy scout Trail to First Class program for first time scouts who have just bridged over from Cub Scouts or who have recently joined a Boy Scout troop. Adult training classes will also be offered for those adults who need training (adult registration will be on-site the day of the event). Cost of the classes will include all-day scouting instruction, an event patch, lunch, basic material for the class, and will cover all logistical costs to run the event.

Registration: The Troop Scoutmaster or MBU representative should first register him-/herself on the inteliscout.com web site, register the troop, and then add each scout along with their MB selections (ask them for their top 5 MB preferences, if not choosing TFC). To enter a TFC registration, click on the Trading Post link on the left navigation bar while logged into your troop's account on the registration web site, then enter the number of TFC registrations into the field next to the $15 price entry. You will not actually type in the scout's name anywhere on the site. Instead, just have them fill out the MBU Registration Form and MBU Liability Form, being sure to print "TFC Program" in BIG LETTERS at the top of each form. Click here to access the Registration Site (November 1st through February 20th).

Cost:
  • One day of merit badge classes (includes lunch and patch): $23
  • TFC - Trial to First Class (includes lunch and patch): $15
  • Adult training classes: $10 (lunch is $4)

The following adult training classes will be offered:

We would prefer a single troop check to cover all scouts in the troop who have registered for MBU.
