- The district's weight goal this year is 37,000 pounds of food collected.
The 2010 Scouting for Food event will be underway soon. Please have your unit's Scouting for Food coordinator or other representative attend the kickoff meeting on January 14th at 7pm at the January Roundtable to collect the bags for your unit and to reserve or confirm your unit's area assignment. Locations will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis, with consideration given to units servicing their own chartered area. Locations are filling up fast, so please consider emailing Maribel Bellard or Vonda Bob (contact info above) before January 14th to be sure to get your area reserved.

An approved Arrowmoon District bag tag is available electronically on this web site to download. Your can fill in your unit's info and then print it many times; a single copy will also be provided for each unit at the January 14th Roundtable so you can write in your unit's information and then copy it many times. Units should staple (or in some manner attach) this tag to each food bag. While not recommended, you can provide your own tags as long as it contains the following information:
- Unit type and number
- Charter Organization
- Date and time of bag pickup (February 6th, Saturday, 9am to noon)
- ...and mention that the BSA Scouting for Food event helps the needy of Brazos County.
As loads are made in vehicles, donations may be brought to the collection point for turn in and weighing. Food donations will be weighed in as they are delivered to the collection point and totals of each unit's collections will be tallied to determine both the final unit food weight and ranking of the units. The event should be over by 1pm.
General Tips and Safety Instructions:
- Bags should be picked up at the January Roundtable. If you cannot make Roundtable, contact Vonda Bob (contact info above) to obtain your bags.
- Scouts are to wear uniforms.
- Buddy System to be used by all scouts at all times.
- No Scouts are allowed in the back of moving vehicles at any time.
- Do NOT enter residences.
- If you have a main street to cover, remember to do both sides.
- Cover as much of your area as possible. If you don't get it all covered, that's OK.
- You will also need to pick up from where you left bags the weekend before, so keep note as to where all you went so that you don't leave any uncollected bags behind.
- Knocking on doors and/or ringing doorbells at houses with no visible bags is an excellent way to maximize collections.
- Last but not least, don’t forget to record your Units work on the Good Turn for America Website.
